Following the recent directive to allow Al-Ahli Hospital to start accepting male individuals for medical tests, this service has now been extended to newly-arrived female employees.

As the temperature continues to soar in Qatar and in the Middle East as a whole, Dr. Mohd Fayez Badawi, Consultant Dermatologist at Al-Ahli Hospital, provides some good advice: “Many people do not take precautions against the ultraviolet rays which can be very harmful.  One needs to use creams with a high Sun Protection Factor (SPF).”

“Qatar is one of the leading nations when it comes to Obesity,” stated Dr. Abdulazim Abdul Wahab Hussain, Consultant General Surgeon and Medical Director of Al-Ahli Hospital, while speaking at the Medical Symposium on Morbid Obesity.  Over 100 doctors from Doha attended this Symposium.  “It is reported that 39% of the population is obese with the incidence in women being much higher.  It is an endemic problem and it is also a vicious circle that the prosperity and increase in disposable income has led to high calorie diet and sedentary lifestyle, which in turn is the main cause of obesity,” he added.

 

Al-Ahli Hospital will hold a Medical Symposium on 15 June 2011 at the Al-Ahli Hospital Auditorium.  This seminar is meant for all interested doctors in Qatar and registration is free of charge.

 

Dr. Abdulazim Abdul Wahab Hussain, Consultant General Surgeon and Medical Director of Al-Ahli Hospital, will speak about Sleeve Gastrectomy.  Dr. Fawzi Mahmoud Jadallah, Consultant General Surgeon, will speak about Gastric Banding; Dr. Munir Saeed, Specialist General Surgeon will speak about Gastric Placation; and Dr. Tarek Mohamed Sherif Khalil, Specialist General Surgeon will speak about Gastric Bypass.  Dr Omar Naji, Specialist Surgeon will introduce the topic.

Al-Ahli Hospital has commenced with conducting Medical Tests for newly arriving expatriates, as part of the Medical Commission's pilot project to allow Private Hospitals to perform the testing.  This service will be provided every Sunday to Thursday, 8am until 4:30pm.
