Al-Ahli Hospital celebrated world Diabetes “walk to stop Diabetes

 

Al-Ahli Hospital celebrated world diabetes day on 12th of November 2014 stressing the significance of educating the public to fight the increasing prevalence of diabetes around the world and in the region.

Dr. Abdel Azim Hussein- Medical Director and Chief Surgeon stressed “we are really proud to promote the importance of awareness and education more and more each year to fight diabetes. Al- Ahli hospital conducted number of activates during the day including free blood sugar and blood pressure check-up.

The slogan for this year will be “Walk to stop Diabetes”.

Dr. Maher Irshaid, Consultant Endocrinologist said “we are here today to insist on educating  and preventing diabetes by  treatment and emphasizing on continuous health education  

In addition Dr. Maher said “ Preventing  type 2 diabetes and its complication can improve the quality of life for millions of people but currently there is no way to prevent type 1diabetes, which  is most commonly diagnosed in children and young adults”.

Mrs. Vedaiyan Jayanthi, Dietitian said “Most of cases of type 2 diabetes can be prevent and the serious complications of diabetes can be avoided through adapting healthy lifestyles encourages and facilitate healthy behavior”. One of the key messages of the activities in this day is to raise awareness about healthy ways and methods of preventing Diabetes through promoting a healthier lifestyle that involves a good nutrition and exercise.
