Al-Ahli Hospital will hold a Medical Symposium on 26 April 2011 at the Al-Ahli Hospital Auditorium.  This seminar is meant for all interested doctors in Qatar and registration is free of charge.

 

Dr. Abdulazim Abdul Wahab Hussain, Consultant General Surgeon and Medical Director of Al-Ahli Hospital, will speak on the Modern Management of Hemorrhoids.  Prof. Harald Rosen, Consultant Visiting General Surgeon from Austria, will speak on the Modern Management of Diverticular Disease.

Dr. Abdulazim’s credentials include: the German Board (Facharzt) in Abdominal Surgery and Traumatology, Diploma in Traumatology from Sweden, Fellowship Bariatric Surgery from Austria, and Advanced Fellowship in Laparoscopic Surgery from Germany.  Speaking about his presentation, he stated, “Hemorrhoids are a common problem (also known as piles) and are swollen and inflamed veins in the anus and rectum.  Many who have hemorrhoids often experience pain, irritation, itching, and bleeding.  We have seen an increase in the number of cases and are primarily due to lack of consumption of fiber.  I will be addressing the modern management of this common problem.”

 

Dr. Harald Rosen, Consultant Visiting General Surgeon, is a Professor of Surgery at Vienna Medical School and is a qualified Board Member of European Surgery.  He is also a Board Member of the Austrian Visceral (Cancer) Surgery and was President of the European Society of Surgery.  Speaking about his topic, he stated, “Diverticular Diseases are small bulges through the inner lining of the colon (large bowel).  They look like small sacs with a narrow opening.  The causes are chronic constipation and lack of fiber.  If these sacs are inflamed they may cause pain, diarrhea, and fever.  I will be discussing modern methods to treat this disease.”
